Instrument Engineer
From: Deep Water Recruitment For: Any nationality
Location: Kazakhstan Offshore at D-Island
Role Overview: To provide specialised expertise within the Offshore Team, promote and co-ordinate activities related to oil & gas instrument and control maintenance and operations activities on field equipment, proactively identifying and resolving problems and minimising downtime, in a safe manner, preparation of maintenance / inspection plan and spare parts selection
Duration: 12 months, with the possibility of extension
Basis: Rotational (28/28)
Indicative Day Rate: GBP.480- per day of work
Role Activities:
Job holder is responsible for:
• Coordinate engineers reporting to him during site field visits; (Company Instrument codes & standards);
• Review Operability and Maintainability of the facilities;
• Carry out assigned routine, preventative and breakdown Instrument maintenance activities according to the relevant Company and Statutory safety requirements are adhered to in all Maintenance activities;
• Carry out routine trip testing of Instrument Control and Safety systems on site, interpret the data and report abnormalities;
• Advise completion of work to the Maintenance Planning Section to maintain the equipment record in CMMS;
• Compiling, completing and submitting of necessary reports and documents regarding Instrument maintenance;
• Accept/Issue Instrument Work Certificates for himself and co-workers and ensure work is carried out within the Company Permit to Work System.
• Ensure work permits are completed accurately with adequate risk assessment and that all safety precautions are followed prior to any work intervention on the facilities;
• Assist in the preparation and follow up of the preservation programme;
• Assist, as required, in emergency response situations that may arise on the plant.
• Ensure that all Instrument maintenance activities, developed for the offshore installation’s are carried out in a safe manner, with the best working practise and in respect with scheduling programs
• Contribute to prepare/review maintenance strategies, procedures and plans;
• Promote and assure the continuous improvement of the maintenance process following the field feedback;
• Give support to work preparation, planning and scheduling activities, including Campaign Maintenance;
• Following-up and controlling the testing of new/modified equipment, systems and machinery
• Technically accountable for Instruments, Control, Automation and Measurements under his area of responsibility;
• Identifying materials, tools and spare part requirements needed to carry out the activities, maintain stock levels;
• Ensuring the provision of adequate resources to carry out activities e.g. special tools and materials for the technicians and/or additional specialist maintenance support;
• Participation to Integrated Commissioning and Acceptance Team (ICAT) and Start-Up activities;
• Participation in and assisting with the co-ordination of the Project's Performance Test(s);
• Supporting the diagnosis of faults and trends on associated control system maintenance activities such as ICSS, DCS, SCADA, PLC, HIPPS, MMS, and AMS control systems and taking appropriate corrective actions;
• Proving dead and applying Circuit Main Earths and/or additional earths in low voltage systems;
• Carry out Ex inspections as per applicable job plans and Ex maintenance strategy.
Qualifications & Experience:
The job holder must have:
• Higher Education Diploma/ Degree qualification in Instrument/Electronic engineering;
• Successful completion of recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship in Oil and Gas Industry;
• Minimum 7 years experience in Instrument Maintenance activities in upstream Offshore Oil and Gas Industry to have included:
o Knowledge of preventive, predictive, corrective and diagnostic maintenance techniques;
o Proven experience in Offshore automatic control, actuators, process control instrumentation, Fire & Gas and ESD systems, typical measurement techniques and relevant instrumentation, rotating machinery, troubleshooting techniques;
o Knowledge of Condition monitoring techniques;
o Management of contractors and vendors;
o Workshop testing and calibration knowledge etc.;
o Knowledge of control systems such as ICSS, DCS, SCADA, PLC and data transmission network.
• Knowledge of local and international codes and regulations regarding mechanical systems and equipment;
• RoK Blue book certified (training and assessment will be provided if required);
• CMMS knowledge and experience;
• Computer literate;
• Fluent in both spoken and written English;
• Medical Certificate of Fitness;
• Valid BOSIET Certificate (Basic Offshore Safety Induction& Emergency Training) or equivalent;
o Previous experience in Caspian Area would be beneficial.
• Significant experience in Oil & Gas plants Design and Operation;

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to make presentations and write effective reports
• Team player with proactive approach to the decision making process
